Hello,
My Name is Katrina. I have been married for almost 10 years and have 3 beautiful boys. I started to gain weight when I was pregnant with my second son. I currently weigh 220 LBS and have a goal weight of 140 LBS. My problem is I don't eat! I have a new career and I find myself too busy to eat or exercise. I am trying to teach myself how to utilize my time effectively so that I can eat more often and start an exercise program; any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
My 10 year wedding anniversary is May 08 and I want to reward my wonderful husband by giving him a beautiful body to look at! My husband loves me for who I am but I want to be healthy and happy. I thank all who was involved in initiating this challenge.
GOD is Love

I am motivated to loose weight because my mom & dad have diabetes and I am determined to take care of my body to prevent this illness. I am starting at 193lbs and my goal is 155. Thanks Essence Magazine for getting the info out and thanks to Dr Ian for the challenge. I am not good at exercising but this will change starting today. (My first day to better health).

Since January, I have been constanly gaining weight. I went from 139 to 161 since then. I recently found out that I was anemic, which contributed to my low energy. Whenever I diet, I have no energy. My question is how do I diet in an effective way, so that my blood level isn't affected. I also have a knee injury, but I love to run. Is there some other way to burn the calories and tone your legs other than running or lunges?

I just want to say that I am very excited about this weight loss challenge. My co-workers and I have started our "biggest loser" challenge. I have been walking everyday (not something I have been doing). I had to take a break on Monday and Tuesday because I have heel spurs and they fell low and my feet were hurting very badly. I will be back up on my feet on Wednesday.

I NEED THIS PROGRAM TO ASSIST IN MY WEIGHT LOST. I WEIGH 247 POUNDS......I REALY NEED-NEED-NEED TO LOOSE WEIGHT. MY GOAL IS 180 POUNDS. I STOPPED SMOKING OCT OF 2006. SINCE OCTOBER I GAINED OVER 60 POUNDS ( WHICH IS WHERE I AM TODAY @ 247) KNOWING IT IS WRONG I STARTED TO SMOKE AGAIN...YES, THERE IS ALWAYS A "BUT". I SMOKE ABOUT "2" PACKS "A MONTH".....OVER THE PAST MONTHS I AM KNOWN AT CHURCHES CHICKEN FOR THEIR TWO PIECE SPECIALS TUESDAY THRU THURSDAYS. WHEN I STOPPED SMOKING I STARTED WHAT IS CALLED "GRAZING". INSTEAD OF EATING A BALANCED MEAL I WOULD NIBBLE AND NIBBLE DURING THE DAY ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT TIME. I AM NOT HAPPY WITH MYSELF TODAY...I SWORE THAT I WOULD NEVER GET BACK YO 347 EVER. THIS MONTH I HAVE NOT GONE NEAR CHURCHES CHICKEN....I AM "MAKING" MYSELF WALK AT LEAST A MILE A DAY....ONE GOAL THAT I HAVE IS TO LEARN HOW TO SWIM....I AM STARTING CLASSES THE BEGINNING OF JULY....I WORK IN MY GARDEN DAILY...I TRY TO STAY MOVING..I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE GETTING UNDER 200 POUNDS I CAN WEAR A SIZE 14 DRESS. I have been faithfull to my diet of a hard boiled egg, oatmeal and hot chocolate for brft, Purdue chicken selects, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, low cal dressing fr lunch, any soup for dinner. Snacks consist of apple sauce, yoghurt and fruit. I have energy and can wear clothes I haven't worn for years. I have 5 more lbs to go. Now to tighten up!

Hi, I am new to the 50 million pound challenge. Either I fail most diets, or most diets fail me because of the meal plans. I hate salads, I don't like cold food. I also have food allergies to seafood and nuts, and I don't like eggs. With all of that, the only diet that I've had success with is the Special K diet. The problem is that even with eating 3 big portioned meals and 3 smaller meals/snacks, I still feel constant hunger. Does anyone have any advice???? I just came from a cruise and gained 8 pounds! That's on top of 5-8 I've gained being in grad school. I need to have success! I need diet tips and help!!! Also, does anyone have a meal plan they can share with me?

Thank you for the challenge Dr. Ian! I made a commitment to lose weight at the beginning of the year when I weighed in at 207. I've lost 20lbs already and I wish I could count those pounds toward the 50 million. I've stalled in my weight loss right now and knowing that there are people across the country in this with me, I think I have the extra boost I needed to get the ball rolling again.
LET'S DO THIS THING PEOPLE!!!

Hey Dr. Ian, My name is Shannon and I am really an overweight 16 year old girl. ALl of my life I have been the tall (5'11) Fat girl and I am absolutely sick and tired of being fat. since I was in elementary school, the kids would constantly harass me to the point of hating myself, and wanting to end my life at 10 years old. My parents constantly talk about me losing weight. And you know what I don't even look fat, I don't even eat alot, why am I gaining?! its like other teenagers around my age they eat all they want, and still stay skinny. I hardly eat and I gain. You know my self esteem is below zero and losing weight is the one thing I know might bring me back to the light. I just hope that this program will give me some kind of inspiration to help me lose e weight before my senior year in highschool (08!).I just want to thank you for producing this program, and maybe you'll create a show for teenagers trying to lose weight (cause I know alot struggling. we are the generation that really need to be aheaded to). Again Thanks Ian and Steve.

I just signed up for the challenge today and I am really excited. I don't have a major weight issue, but I'd like to shed about 15 unwanted pounds. I am currently at about 160lbs and the bmi chart says that I am 26lbs over. I think 145 will look great, so that's what I'm going for. I hope this will be a wonderful experience for me.

I would like to see this sort of thing going on more intensely with black families being challenged to educate their children supplementary to our available system, preparing them for a profession or area of interest/natural ability so they can compete in the world market. Spanish/chinese etc.,math, science, health profession, community trainings by successful people from communities. how we communicate with our kids and each other. Treat each other. quality time with families. keeping our homes clean/welcoming. self educational pursuit-even if at the library. Let's challenge that in our culture forever more.

Hello Dr. Ian. I am a 44 years and going strong. I have been divorced now for 7 years, but 5 years prior to that I realized that I was in a state of depression because of state of my marriage (very abusive). I learned to cope by eating. I would go home, put on clothes too large, and eat. Eat whatever...ice cream, pizza, potato chips, salad with 3 types of dressing (at the same time!). I will be 45 in 2 months and have decided that after gaining 80 lbs, I NEED to regain control of my life and make myself healthier.
Thank you for the 50 million pound challenge and with the inspiration from you and Mr. Steve Harvey, I am destined for greatness...or at least a great weight loss!

I'm 28 w/ 3 children. I've been trying to loose weight since after my 1st child and she's 12. NO SUCCESS. Everytime I said, "I'm going on a diet", I found out I was pregnant a week later. There went my motivation. My kids are 12, 8, and 5mths. So thats 3 failed tries and I'm over 200lbs. Well, now that shop has closed for good and not accessible for reopening, I want to loose weight for my health and for me. I look dam good, but I want to look even better. I think I've struggled long enough, right? I'm ready to go full force. I feel this challenge will not only strengthen me as a black women, it will make me a healthier woman.

Thank you Dr. Ian
I enjoy watching Celebrity Fit Club each week because it reminds me that everyone, no matter how famous or infamous, can suffer with weight challenges. It's an extra challenge, given that food is one of the few addictions that people can have that they cannot completely cut out of their lives. We've all got to eat to live! With that in mind, the show seems to focus on enjoying our food within the context of a healthy mindset and lifestyle (although, there is a bit too much focus on the drama at times).
Congratulations on your baby! And may the stars continue to shine on you and your family for all that you are trying to bring to the community. Best wishes.

Well I don't know how to use HTML tags, for style. I sure would like to know. Today is my birthday, I am 35yrs.old. I learnt about this great opportunity this morning on the Harvey Show. I'm not a fan of his, only my husband. However, I definitely am challenged to lose 20lbs. and gain more muscle. What I have bennifited from mostly from this challenge is the quantity of food I should consume. Wow, only 4 large shrimps. I am one that can definitely put away 1 dozen of shrimps cooked any stlye and want more. I can honestly say this you've amazed me with that. Thanks and Peace be upon you.

Thank You, Dr.lan for speaking up and speaking out on weightloss expecially for Afro Americans. I have been obese for many years and now after receiving news that my brother who is 38 years old needs a heart, this has motivated me to do something about my weight.the doctors said that in order to get on the heart transplant list he needs to loose 100 lbs, I am encouraging my brother by losing over 100lb and prayfully that he will reach the 100lb mark and receive a new heart. (so far he has lost 65lbs)
Thank You for your gift

Ok, I am signing up and I hear you on the Steve Harvey show. I had started the weight loss about 3 months ago and my starting weight then was 264 pounds. I started with a group of women at a job I was at and we started the biggest loser and that is when the 50 million challenge started as well. So in those three months I have lost 14 pounds. I Had lost 19 but I have gained 5 pounds back in the last month. I am stepping up my workouts now. Before I was just walking and cutting back. But I am without a job again and I am board at home and I eat. So now my new challenge is that in October my book club is planning a trip to Miami and I can not go looking like this. We are all losing some kind of weight to get into shape for this trip. I know my goal of 80 pound lost will not be met by then but my gut has to be gone by then. The rest will follow. I will try to keep up my updates. Thanks

I heard about the 50 million pound challenge this morning on The Steve Harvey Morning Show. Dr. Ian, thank you for keeping me motivated. Several of my co-workers are losing weight. We have formed a weight loss support group. I have encouraged all of them to go online and registered on your website. Already since I have signed up I feel more motivated than ever to shed these unwanted pounds. I feel like someone (you) is depending on me. And I am one that when I commit myself to something that will affect someone else... I follow through because I don't want to let them down. And in the case, and more importantly, I don't want to let myself down. Again, thank you Dr. Ian. I am your fan for life!
