Dr. Ian,
I have been trying to lose weight for the past 5 years and haven't accomplished much weight loss. My weight right now is 190 pounds. My doctor has confirmed that I have High cholestoral and High Blood pressure. I've tried every diet pill possible to help me with this problem, much to no avail.
I was told I would have to diet and stick to it, and if I don't I can very well have a Stroke or Heart Attack. I'm very afraid, because I basically don't have any family medical history. Me and my sister who passed away of a Massive heart attack at the age of 44 years old were adopted at a early age. She was my natural sister.
I would love to lose at least 40 -50 pounds. I stand 5'5 feet tall. It's hard for me to do most exercises, because I have arthritis in both of my knees.
I would love to have the opportunity to be on your show in order to get my life back on track as far as my health is concerned.
Thanks for listening and maybe considering me to be on your program to lose this weight in the correct way. (Diet and exercise.) I definitely need more motivation.

Well Dr. Ian, I just want to say that I was one of the firs to sign up for this challenge on april 4. I went to my state farm office and got my pedometer. I have always worked out, so for me that was the easy part. I also purchased your book, Extreme Fat Smashers. I held on to the book, skimmed thru it, and said wow, Can i do this?? Another month went by, I continued to work out but was sabbatoging the workout by not controlling my food intake.
On June 13, I decided I have to start this challenge. I put into practice your Extreme fast smasher program. It was difficult at first, however I felt that I was loosing weight and continued. I was so excited after the first week when I stepped on the scale and had lost a total of 7 lbs. WOOO WHEEE, THAT WAS THE MOST I HAD EVER LOST IN ONE WEEK. i WAS SO EXCITED I WENT TO THE GROCERT STORE TO PURCHASE EVERYTHING I NEEDED FOR THE SECOND WEEK. THE SECOND WEIGH IN, I LOST 1 LB. AT FIRST, I WAS DISSAPOINTED BECAUSE I EXPECTED TO SEE AS MUCH OR AT LEAST HALF AS MUCH AS THE FIRST WEEK. I QUICKLY REALIZED THAT I HAD LOST 8 LBS IN 2 WEEKS...THATS AMAZING. TODAY, 4 WEEKS LATER I HAVE LOST A TOTAL OF 10.2 LBS AND4% BODY FAT. THANK YOU DR. IAN FOR THIS CHALLENGE. I WILL CONTINUE TO BE SUCCESSFUL ON YOUR PROGRAM. I KNOW KNOW THAT BEING UNDER 200 LBS (WHICH I HAVENT NOT BEEN SINCE THE BIRH OF MY TWINS ALMOST 22 YEARS AGO) IS NOT ATTAINABLE!
THANKS AGAIN
PAZZ

Dr. Ian,
I am 6'0 and weigh 265 pounds. I am always tired and have developed a sleeping problem since gaining the weight. I also have asthma. I am newly married (1 year) and have a 8 month old son. This after having a daughter 25 years ago. I really want to be here for my new wife and son so I would love to be on your new show. My wife is overweight also and maybe by me doing this it would encourage her to get involved as she is diabetic. I truly need the help. Thank you for your time.

Dr. Ian, Thank you for starting this challenge across America. The best thing is that it's free! So many people would like to lose weight or become healthier, but don't have the funds to start. I had lost weight a couple of years ago(paid for) from 255 to 179(lowest weight). I have regained almost 40 of those pounds back due to various reasons(stress, relocation, etc.) But, I want to regain myself and prolong my life for my family. This will be like having a trainer by my side. Thank you again

I am a 45 year old African American male, 6'4"inches and currently weigh 228 lbs. What I would like to know is the BMI for African Americans the same as other races of people? At 6'4" 200 pounds seems a little small for me. The BMI scale shows that at 6'4" 200 pounds is considered healthy. I am 228 pounds and according to the BMI scale I am overwieght. I must admit that if I came down in weight and excercise more frequently I may have better control with my hypertension. Can you please enlighten me more on how I can maintain my current weight and still be considered healthy?

I am at my heaviest. I need to shed about 90 pounds. My parents have high blood pressure and heart trouble. A couple of years ago, I had a wake up call. I try, but it just doesn't seem to come off. I drop a few pounds-then that's it. Help
