Bragging rights

Who’ll “wear the crown” and boast in turning out the largest Challenge event crowd?

Right now, Atlanta is the town to beat. This is what a crowd of well over 15,000 people looks like from the air:

I just want to take the time out to thank Dr. Ian for coming to Milwaukee. Not only did I enjoy myself, the performers were great. We received valuable information. I just recently experienced a life changing event. That could have been prevented had I been more informed. So thank you for educating our people on the dangers of obesity, diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol. I myself am on my way to purchase the book. I was even lucky enough to meet Dr. Ian and thank him personally. I have just recently started dialysis because I did not take my hypertension seriously, DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU. God bless.

I find that working out in the mornings work out well for me also. I have a young son that likes to play, so when he gets up, it's all over. So I get up at 4:25 am every morning. I don't exercise every morning, but I do exercise 5 days a week(at least I try to!). I have an hour before I have to get ready for work and everyone is still sleep so I can have my peace. I eat my breakfast after I workout beacause I don't want anything heavy prior to me working out that might make me sluggish. But I try to do a little something after I eat dinner at night, at least 15 mintutes. That will keep my metabolism up throughout the night. I found that a great resource for me was Dr. Ian's book, THE FAT SMASH DIET. It has really helped me with my eating habits and how to control the urge of stuffing my face. I have suggested it to everyone that asks me how I have taken the weight off(i've lost 19 lbs. so far since starting on 6/26).

I find that snacking during the day works best for a busy schedule. Keep the water and snacks at the desk and you'll find yourself making good use of them.

Buy the quick meal that will be something you'll eat and is a source of fiber. Meat in the morning (hence the "big breakfast") stays with you longer and you get hungry less. You could try the microwave sausage, chicken, or turkey bacon.

Congratulation for becoming apart of something great.
Your eating right starts with good planning. The best way I've found to tackle the what will I eat dilemma is pre-plan your meals on Sunday. It may seem difficult but at some point you MUST put yourself 1st. You can think about your menu through the week heading to Sunday. I shop on the weekend and prepare my weeks food on Sunday.
Eating fruit for breakfast is probably the easiest solution. Apple, grapes, peaches, nectarines and plums are wash and go. You can wash them all when you bring them home from the store.
Grill or bake some chicken, buy a large bag of romaine lettuce (Sams) and a light salad dressing. Buy some turkey lunch meat and eat sandwiches on wheat a couple days with baby carrots in place of chips. Frozen stir fry veggies and albacore tuna in water with the water drained. Add lemon pepper to taste. The veggies can go in the microwave for 3 minutes or so, they’re very good. You can also cook enough dinner to have for lunch the following day. Keep your portions reasonable and the weight will begin to come off. Oh yeah, you need to exercise a few days a week. I can only seem to exercise in the morning when my household is asleep. This might work for you too. I get up at 4:55am to exercise for 1 hour.

These are just some general suggestions. Good luck, may God walk with you on this journey.

Carlotta:

Hello Everyone,

I joined the program about a week ago and I am really excited about sticking with the challenge and proving to myself that I can stay with the program; however, I am having a small issue. There is so much going on in my life that I am not eating regularly. Most days I am unable to have breakfast, I work through the lunch hours so I don't get to eat, and when I get home it is rather late so the only thing that I want to do is eat something and go to bed. Any suggestions? Can someone tell me how long should I wait to lie down after eating? Is it better to eat before working out or after? Is it okay to drink flavored water (does it serve the same purpose as regular water)?

Thanks for Your Support!
