Susan:

I'm a 57 year old widow with two grown children that live with me. My height is 5' 3" weight is 170. The BMI that I filled out on your website said I was obese. That's scary. I have gradually over the years put on the weight. I do not exercise, as I hate to, and I am not a healthy eater. My 26 year old son that is 5' 10" was on the scale last week, when he told me he weighed 168, I was horrified to think he weighted less than me. It's time for me to take action and get healthy and get the weight off of me. My cholesterol is high, I take Lipitor, and I take Prylosec for acid reflex. If I can lose weight, I can possible get off of those drugs. Am I a candidate for your fit club?

Anonymous:

Dr. Ian -
First thanks for recognizing the weight challenges that our community faces daily.
Second, kudos for extending the "fit club" concept to ordinary people. Basicially, I want to participate because I am 50, perimenopausal, hating myself my look, my body so much about me; not 50 and fabulous at all, and I see the benefit of fitness and good nutrition and need the guidance and expertise to achieve it. Besides loosing weight, on Celebrity Fit...I noticed that loosing the weight directly correlates to other emotional issues.
Finally, if it's GOD's will, I want to be around for my daughter and not-yet-conceived grandchildren.

Kathy Anderson:

Dr. Ian

My name is Kathy. I'm 52 years old, 5'6 and the last time I weighed myself I was 240lbs. I have no health problems and wish to keep it that way. I promised myself on my 50th birthday I would have those extra pounds off....I turned 50 two years ago and nothing has changed. It's been increasing difficult to commit myself and follow through because of the high level of stress that's in my life. Over the last few months I've been trying to minimize the stress so that I can focus on myself more. I need a program like this to help jump start me to a healthier, and a more energetic me. Thank you for this great opportunity that will make a difference in the lives of millions...who will embrace it!!

Be Blessed!
Kathy

William Davis:

Dr. Ian,
I think it is a blessing in what you are doing to motivate people to live healthier lives. I am one of those who finally is taking the steps to improve my body and mind. I am a 38 yr. old male who is 5'9 and weighs about 210 lbs. My goal is to hopefully lose about 40 lbs and while doing this eating better than I have been. My schedule consists of work and school, so my diet consists of nothing but junk food on a daily basis. I keep saying when I finish with my school I am going to lose this excess weight, but now I think it is important that I make those changes now. If you need anyone for you Everyday people fit club, I would be more than happy to assist you.

tanya davis:

Dr. Ian,
I would really like to be a participant for the every day people fit club. i think it is a wonderful idea. I feel that unlike a lot of celebrities we every day people may not have the needed funds to hire a personal trainer. Once instructed I can follow whatever regimen to lose weight for my team and myself! I am 202lbs and would like to like to lose around 40 more. With your guidance it would be a done deal for me! Either way thanks for all of the help.

Tanya

Charmaine Coston:

I am happy to hear that everyone is working together to lose weight and I am proud to say that I will be joining you. I have been trying to lose weight for quite some time and I was about 165 lbs before I had my daughter in Sept. 1998 and I gained 60 1bs and I lost most of it, but I gained it back and then I had my son in Feb. 2004 and gained 30 lbs and lost 27 lbs in two weeks because I was nursing, then I started working out at curves and by my six week check up, I was down to 214 lbs, which did'nt last for long because I got busy and stop working out, also my kids and I went through alot with becoming homeless, so most of my focus was taking care of everything else and it was'nt until 4-5 mths ago that someone told me I was suppose to keep doing that for about the amount of time I was pregnant or I would gain all of it back, well I was 270 lbs on January 16, 2007, when I started my new job after being job less for almost a year and I am now 250 lbs since I started watching celebrity fit club and that help me to get more motivated because my biggest problem is I'm not consistant. I have a ruff schedule, I am up at 5 am and we leave out by 6:25 so my son and I can catch the bus to take him to day care, then I drop him off at 7:10 run back out to catch my bus at 7:16, then catch an express bus to the train station, then catch another bus to get to work by 8:30, then I do it all over agin in the evening and we don't get home until 7 pm, then I have to cook and get ready for the next day, so lately I get up at 4:30 to try and exercise or get take out or tv dinners in the evening so I can work out when I get home. Its ruff, by I am determined, so any of your support will be greatly appreciated.

Cloteal:

Hello All,

I wanted to respond to Tanya's story and thank you for sharing your story. It makes me feel better to know that I am not alone. In April I made the decision to loose weight and become more healthy. I began weight watchers on April 14 and started to eat better. However I was still not getting enough exercise. I heard about "The Challenge" and joined on June 19. I have lost 7lbs since joining the challenge but with weight watchers and "the challenge" together I have lost 18lbs. I still have a long way to go. I started at 207lbs and now weigh 189lbs. My goal is to get down to 165lbs which means that I still have 25lbs to go. It is nice to know that their is an entire internet support group out there to encourage you to remain steadfast in your goal. Thank you all and keep up the good work.

DR. Ian, Yes Thank God for you, for coming up with the Non-celebrity Fit Club.
I'm so Frustrated here and down to last straw.

Seems like Melissa AKA(Missy) started putting on weight when she turned 13 years old, which killed her self esteem, so she was always quite and to her self and still is, never really had best friends (just Me)like most teenage girls do, She never had a boy friend in high school nor through College that she never finished that i know of and has never brought a boy friend home. Please, Please, pick my daughter she's a beautiful, funny, smart young lady, that will never get out in the real world if I can't get her motivated maybe you can.

Tammy :

Dear Dr. Ian,

I was listening to Mr. Harvey this morning and I decided to take this step in trying to lose weight. I'm 5'3", 235. I want to lose weight because I have PCOS and ovarian cancer runs in my family. I don't have health insurance so I can't see a doctor regularly nor get a nutritionist so I would like to be considered for the Everyday People's Fit Club. I have been fat since birth, literally! I saw last season with DaBrat and she really inspired me to get fit. So please help! I'm drowning in a body that's not suppose to be mine. Peace and Blessings, Tammy

Andrea Campbell:

I heard about your every day people show. I would like to be considered because I ABHOR EXERCISING!! I know how to maintain my weight, however, I don't know how to lose it. I will find every excuse NOT to exercise.

When Luther passed two years ago, I was in the gym parking lot when I received the news on my cell from my sister. I went in the gym to tell my trainer I couldn't work out because Luther had died & I was in mourning! :( My trainer looked at me with his mouth hanging open as I left the gym, got in my car, & drove out of the parking lot to go home! That's the best excuse that I ever had for NOT exercising.

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Frenchie Pierce:

Dr. Ian,
I am a 55 yr. young woman in HealthCare. I am a prime canidate for the non-celebrity fit club because I am 300 lbs. down from 310 5'3&3/4", needing your assistance in continued focus to perserver. What better motivational tool for me and viewers to have had assistance from the best. To be able to be a fit & healthy Heathcare giver for others & myself. To be able to use myself as a better teaching tool especially when doing diet teaching.

2bcontinued:

Why isn't Dr.Ian running for President?

This is the best idea ever.. Whoever came up with this concept of having ordinary people lose weight needs a hug from me. If this ever hit the airwaves it'll have millions of viewers.

I was in tears laughing when Steve compared a lady to a box of french fries...I'm the second order.
I stand 5'7 and weigh 340 ..I dont feel it but pictures say different.
Count me in ---with some support---these pounds will shed.

Be Blessed!

Dr. Smith:

RE: "Non-Celebrity Fit club"

I'm 5'6 and 178lbs. most of which came from going through and recovering from 2 surgeries over the last 2 yrs. I take water aerobics 3 times a week consistently (since May this yr.) and only lost 5 lbs. I'm an otherwise healthy 55 year old who would love to have her body back and know that being on your show would help me accomplish that. I take direction VERY well and am a very focused person. Diabetes runs in my family / I'm determined to break that "mold". I don't want to look up one day and be over 200lbs which can happen so easily. Please help!

Thanks and look forward to hearing from you!

dion mcqueen:

Hello. My name is Dion McQueen. I'm 5'4 and weigh 328lbs. I will be 40 on the 20th of Aug. and desperately want to loose weight without resorting to "going under the knife".... HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Angela:

Well, I was listening this morning to the SHMS. Im 42 and I have alot of life left to live. Ive been trying to loose weight for a long time. My son is 22 years old and Ive been blaming him for all my weight. Realty, I eat the wrong things and spend alot of time alone. I have a 2 year old grandbaby and another on the way. I want to be able to take them to the park and do things with them. I look at my parents, and I see that if I dont make a change (tearfully spoken) and soon, I may not live long enough or be able to walk and move well enough to be a grandmother who is not in a wheelchair. No disrespect to those who are but I dont want to be one because of my weight. I know that the weight I have is going to be a problem the longer I wait to take care of it, so here is a everyday lady, who wants to be a grandmom who can do and be there.

Naomi Hill:

I am a 29 year old female that is trying to get healthier for me and for my 3 year old son. I am struggling with high blood pressure and just went to the doctor 2 days in a row and found that my blood pressure was 155/110 the first day and 154/108 the following day. Please help. I know that weight loss will help my high blood pressure.

Regenia Holmes:

I am so gratefull for this Challenge. I had started on June 1st losing weight. It is funny how this all unfolded. I went to a women's conference. The woman speaker talked to us about Godliness and taking care of our temple(body). She spoke of glutiny, and how it is a sin and how we have allowed our selves just to eat eat eat,we need to take care of our temple. At the same time, I had returned to college and I was in an Anatomy/Physiology class, and the same time a friend of mine told me about a doctor in Illinois who gives these shots and some pill that are supposed to make you lose weight. Well the week after I and my friend ventured to Illinois from Wisconsin to take the shot and get the pills. I was begining a new chapter in my Antamoy class, and dangonit, it was about Obesity, weight loss, Gastric Bypass fad diets the whole nine yards. I was so mad when I read about the "diet plan" I myself had just started with the pills and shot and had realized I had just wasted $85 and gas money. This chapter of the book, spoke how all of that stuff was short term at best most of it did not work. The chapter went on to explain the metabolic breakdown, and how we gain and lose weight and how the only true way to effectively start losing weight was to start moving and by the foods we eat, and how exercising is the greatest tool to weight lost. At the conference, Evanglist Gaunt spoke on how we had to first change our way of thinking and behavior, and when we start changing the thought process we can began changing bad eating habits as well. So I just looked at the timing of all of this and realized that this must be a sign from above that I must take control of my life if i plan on living a long and healthy life. Then I began to watch celebrity fit club. I was mad at Justin but I was so impressed and moved by the hard work the other celebrities were putting forth that I just ignored his behavior, and I started on June first exercising. I have lost 10 pounds. I want to make this a life long process. I have never been skinny so that is not what I am hoping for. However, I am hoping to live to be 100 and this program will be a great motivation for me. My whole family has health issues. My blood pressure shot up really high early in the year, but the doctor was not sure if it was from the pain, because I had injuried myself or because of weight and famiy history. I can now say just by losing the ten pounds I have already reduced my blood pressure. She does want me to stay on the medication for a while to see how things go.I am sure it's going to go well, now that I have major support system such as this. I hope that my lifestyle change can encourage my family members to change their lifestyles as well.In terms of my thought process I remind myself daily that 1. its up to me to make the change and 2.Today is the only day Ineed to worry about, stop trying to think ahead and focus on what I am doing this day.

Thanks Dr. Ian I hope I get to meet you one day in person to that you.

Regenia
