Eat as many meals as possible sitting down without being distracted. Don’t eat in front of the TV or computer; instead sit down with friends or family and enjoy the meal as well as the company. Eating while doing something else tends to cause you to eat large portions and not truly enjoy the food or company with whom you’re sharing the meal.
People who work in offices should try to avoid eating at their desks. It’s important to clear your mind and change your environment. If you are eating alone, try reading a good book, newspaper, or magazine. Implementing eating habits like this help keep you aware and in control of your diet, and will lead you to success.

Thank God for you Dr. Ian. I just joined today (2/28/08), needless to say I tried to get my husband to join with me, but as always he says he will do it on his own. I was just like him trying to lose weight without being held accountable to someone else other than myself; do you know how hard that is to do!! I can not wait for the results to start showing, and maybe than he will see he can not do this (losing weight) on his own. Thanks to all for the encouraging comments and pics, and to this website for allowing us to share with one another our healthy life styles:-)
Bwell,
Cheryl

Greetings Dr. Ian and all members!!
I am so glad that I found the website and although registration was a challenge I am now "onboard" and ready to support and get support from all members. I am 56 years young and have wrestled with weight issues my ENTIRE life.....I think my parents used cookies and other sweets to ease every tear or painful moment. My food addictions are numerous but last fall I decided to do something for myself. Do not want to fear scales, clothes, social events, pictures or intimacy any longer. THIS IS MY YEAR.....TO MAKE A CHANGE FOR MYSELF....TO FEEL BETTER PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY....FOR THE HEALTH OF IT!! I look forward to the challenge and working with all of you so that we can all meet our goals.

Hello Dr. Ian,
First I would like to tell you that it is a blessing that you as a black doctor shows concern about the weight of our children as well as adults. I have watch your show "Celebrity Fit Club" on VH1 every season and sometimes i would wonder if you guys will take average people on the show with no celebrity status who wants to lose weight. I started my healthy weight progam on 31 Dec 2007 and i have to say that I lose a total of 9lbs and i like how my inches are falling off, but than when i heard about your 50 million pound program i said that i will add this to the program that i am on now, so once again thank you very much. You know you are a sexy brother.

I am just maintaing and it is killing me. I quit smoking when I started my weight loss challenge in November 2007 and I do aerobic exercise 4-5 times a week. My eating habits are pretty much together but it's a constant struggle! Please help!

Hi everyone! I'm 30 years old and about a year ago I began working in Information Systems. Several months ago I broke my knee and have only recently been able to begin some light exercise. I'm a big snacker, especially while working at a desk all day so I am hoping LadyJaye's suggestions will help. Stay encouraged everyone!

It's nice to have a place to go to, to see that "I'm not the only one" I too have been wanting to lose, and am glad that I have some help. I try, then lose motivation, but now, with the support of my team, and being able to track my progress and see the line go down on my graph, I know I will stay motivated. Keep losing everyone, and know you are not alone

HiI'm 44 and I decided to join the challenge. I've taken the weight off last year, but this year got depressed and a lot of changes happened in my life lost relationships lost friendships. I've just been feeling blue and that has caused me to put the weight back on. Anyone out there who's in the same place i'm in, or who's been there I would appreciate your words of incouargement.

Hello, I am a 41 year old female. I need to get some suggestions on what to eat when I am craving something sweet. Fruit in the wintertime is not very tasty because most of it is out of season. Canned Fruits contain too much sugar (including Lite). Does anyone know of some tasty recipes to make? I was given a suggestion of Graham Cracker and Fat Free Cool Whip to make like an ice cream sandwich. Anymore suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Tammi, I just really got serious about losing weight and I work out of my car. I'm constantly on the go. Recently, I started packing a bag filled with apples, oranges, raisins and sometimes nuts,if I have them and leaving it in a cooler in my car (I have bottled water in the cooler also). This usually fills my hunger until I can get home. I've really started planning what I'm going to eat when I get home, also. This works for me I hope it works for you.
