By this time, most of you have seen Dr. Ian's email from last week. Here's a reminder if you missed it:
"We can get overwhelmed at times by our ultimate goals. Try setting smaller goals that will collectively propel you towards your dream weight or figure. Let me help you out—aim to lose 10 pounds over the next 10 weeks—by the end of April. Commit to the diet and exercise plan that will work for you. Remember to record your progress and let us know how you are doing."
Never forget, we are in this fight together. Back in November '07, we set a Challenge goal to reach our first million pounds... and we did it. Now we're setting personal goals, and we need one another just the same.

Let's make the right and healthy decisions to be ten pounds lighter by the end of April! Take a moment to navigate the tools and resources available to you for FREE on the site. Implement the plans that will help you drop your next ten pounds.

I been trying very hard to lose at least 10 more pounds. When I start I was about 207 lbs and now I am 160. I've been trying to get to 150 or 145. I eat clean, sometime I eat too clean and I walk 35 min Mon- Thur. at work during my lunch and about 1 1/2 hours in the afternoon and on Saturday. I walk at least 7 miles and how come I can't lose this miserable 10 pounds!!!! Please help me.

I am really struggling to loose my last 35 more pounds. I've lost 25 pounds over the past year but I am really having trouble now. I try to eat right and I do good during the day but it's at night when I fall apart. I feel like going to Wal-Mart and finding something to take to curb my cravings I would rather not go that route though. I just want to eat at night. Please help! I'm also having trouble getting back into the gym I feel like I'm waisting $20 a month by not going but just can't get it going. Thanks for any suggestion at all.

Hi everyone. I am writing because I really need the help of you successful ppl. I have tried over and over again. Today I gave up. I am so tired of yo-yo dieting. I keep reliving the fact that I lost 81 lbs. but I can't do it now. I have a severe eating problem. I realized that when I tracked what I ate and I see I give into my impulse cravings. I just don't know how to turn them off. I am desperate for some support and help. I always wanted to keep it private and hide behind my happy mask. But I am tired of pretending and am genuinely seeking help. Help me stick to it. I want to do the 10 lbs in 10 weeks but everytime I set a goal I gain the weight instead of lose it. So ig anyone is willing please come forward. Trust me when I say all comments are welcome. Helpful ones that is! Thank you all so much.

I'm up for the challenge but my health is out of control it is hindering my motivation. What do you do when your obese, have severe osteo-arthritis and RA and still have major side effects from chemotherapy.
Do you think hand weights and chair exercises will do anything for me?. I started off 286 pounds before cancer. Today I'm at 252 pounds but I can't take credit for this weight loss. I need a exercise routine that will give me aerobics since I cannot ride a bike/stationery or any other kind and walking is very slow due to the OA and RA. Help me stay moving and motivated. Can I improve my health at this stage of the game?

Hello All,
I started in January 27 to put my mind into losing weight. I am 5'6", and when I went to the doctor twice, I weighed 163...so far, I weigh 150. However, lately my scale reads 153, then 151 or then 152 and then back to 150 so I am having a problem in knowing what's the exact weight I have lost...I have targeted to 150 since I weighed myself again this morning & that's what it read. I hope I am doing this right. I have been using the cycling bike at least 3 times a week for an hour, some light weights for my arms & eating in moderation..always important to eat my breakfast (I bought some boxes of bran cereals that help my stomach not make any rumbling noises in the morning before lunch)....fruits are great (plums, grapes, pears), lots of 90 calorie granola bars (they help with my sweet tooth)and my fiance & I have been eating more fish (not fried) instead of red meat. Tilapia, Catfish & Salmon with some seasoning is tasty with vegetables (greens like asparagus, string beans, even canned beets) or a little portion of brown rice. The light progresso soups are good once in a while (just have to minimize the sodium)...I am trying to drink lots of water but I have not been successful with that so I'll keep trying...I guess switching it up a bit makes a difference so I pray to God we stick to this so that I can keep losing weight not just to feel better but to stay healthy. Thanks so much!!! Any tips, please feel free to let me know!

Hi Everybody,
I am happy to see that all of my ladies are doin the d*^& thing with losing their weight. I know it's hard but I know you all can do it. I made a commitment to start losing weight on 3/24/07. I used to live in CA and weighed around 160 which is my ideal weight according to my height of 5'11. I am 36yrs old this year. I had my first child 2-1/2 years ago which he will be 3 in June(hi baby). My weight increased from 160ish to 228 since i've moved back to Texas over 6 years ago. It's funny how your environment can affect you in so many ways. CA is all about glamour and keepng up with the "jones" as they say. When I moved back to Texas the weight started to slowly come on. Not saying that the south doesn't care about appearance or anything like that. I just think that the south has a different mentality. Not getting into the differences in the way the south and west coast mentalies are but some of you know what I mean. Anyway, back to what's more important at this time. I am proud to say that I have lost 40 pounds since I first started. I know some are saying I should have lost more by now and you are right, but i'm just taking my time one pound at a time. I do not deprive myself of anything. I don't do any diets. I've tried every diet there is but it didn't work. Actually I think all diets work but it's the mind that has to work first. I think losing weight is a mind thing. I had to make up in my mind that I wanted to lose the weight. Once I did that, it started coming off. What I do is simple: I limit the amount of sodas, sweets and fast foods.(Notice I said limit-not exclude:sorry Dr. Ian) I used to eat these things on a daily basis. Now I eat six meals daily. I love my special k w/yogert cereal in the morning along with a yogurt(the kind that you think with a straw),one cup of coffee(used to have 2 a day). Now i'm down to about 3 cups a week and eventually i'll stop. At few hours later I'll have fruit, for lunch I eat south beach diet luncheables(for the portion control and I don't like to cook, they come with a jello for sweets craving). Then around 2pm i'll eat about 10 almonds(which is another snack and a yogert or fruit). Finally for dinner i'll have whatever I want (say if it's fast food, like Jackinthebox-Grilled Chix sandwich with 3 jalapino bombers(not 7 and no fries). Or i'll do a happy meal instead of the #3 supersized. I eat before 6pm no later than 7pm. If i'm hungry afterwards I'll eat a piece of lunch meat with a slice of fat free cheese. In a day I drink lots of water. I drink at least 5 of those 16.5 oz bottles a day.(they say you should drink 1/2 of your body weight in water per day. I know i would have lost a lot more had I excerised but i don't like to exercise. I made a commitment this year that I will start by at least walking 30-45 minutes 3x's a week. Well, that is my story and hopefully the next time I blog I will be halfway at my goal weight. Until next time.
Blessings,
Terra
