Try not to eat your meals on the run. The faster you eat, the more you eat, because you don’t give your stomach and brain enough time to register that you are full. This causes you to eat past your satiety point. Eat slowly and think about how much you’re enjoying the flavor and texture of your food.
Eating should be a pleasurable experience. When you slow down, you get in tune with your body and know when you’re full. So be intentional and take some time to eat and enjoy your food. Self-control is critical to changing our lives, successfully.

I am very excited to see so many African Americans taking control of their lives and getting healthy. I have dieted and exercised most of my life, however I allow work stress to keep me from staying consistant. I am 45 years young and have decided with this challange to finally get focused on myself. I would like to thank Dr. Ian and all of you out there for giving me the encouragement and motivation to finally get it right. Let's do this for ourselves and for our community as we demonstrate that being fit and healthy is apart of our culture. We are setting an example for our kids. Good luck to all of you.

I am a very busy career woman and mother, I want to know what else I can do to get excercise in during the week when I just dont have an extra hour. I know it seems like an excuse but here's a typical day:
6 am wake up and shower
620 wake everyone else up
715 leave (usually late but we try)
800 at work until sometimes until 6 or 7pm
730 thinking about fixing dinner (I know some mothers are about to call child protection for such a late dinner, but I do what I can)
around 830 finally eating after homework laundry and the paperwork I brought home from the office its about 11pm when I make it to my bedroom. Please, I need help. My kids are very healthy its just me. What can I do.

I started this challenge because I Knew I needed to lose weight, but was not motivated. With this site and Dr. Ian, I've reached my ideal weight of 140 lbs. I not only had a weight lost , but a mental awakening. I did a lifestyle makeover, because both of my parents died from an instant, massive heart attack. I've learned to eat slowly and think when I chew. I am now a vegetarian, and I've never felt better. I've started a health exercise program which incorporates running, walking, weight lifting and resistance. When I feel the need to eat too much, I hear Dr. Ian's voice in my head. I am so thankful for this challenge for my community

I took Dr. Ians advice about not eating on the run and found that I get full faster and I dont feel sick and have heartburn. I sometimes get discouraged when i get on the scale and see that I have dropped pounds but when i look in the mirror I look the same. Im 25 and have two kids and must admit Im not as sluggish as I use to be, and Im getting better with walking the track or taking the stairs at school, im not as tired as I use to be. I first weighed in at 180, im now 171. Im glad I joined this site and i must admit that my motivation is my mama dolly because she eats healthy and exercises daily and she looks great. Good Luck to everyone!!

I was always a little on the thicker side, but when I got married at 18 I started gaining more and more weight, I realized after my marriage failed that I couldn't live my life this way..I could barely walk up the stairs without breathing hard..and I'm only 21. I decided I DONT WANT TO LIVE MY LIFE THIS WAY!! My workout plan/diet started on January 5th, no it wasn't a new years resolution, its now my lifestyle. I work out at least 4-5 times a week now for at least 1 hr each session, I watch my calorie intake and eat very healthy. I have lost 12 lbs and am noticing a very shapely body. I'm currently at 212 and I don't have a goal weight..I just want to be healthy!
Good luck to everyone!!!
