I have just begun the challenge, I purchased the book and went to the store and changed all of the food to do the eat the right thing, I weigh more now than when I was pregnant. I was once a size 8 and I plan to get back there. I am very motivated and plan to stay with this through His grace and the great support of my husband.

I have lost 12 pounds since I started the 50 million pound challenge in March!! I decided to join the challenge after I saw Dr. Ian at Women's Empowerment in Raleigh, NC. I am also doing the Fat Smash Diet and I am sooo excited. I have taken a new outlook on life and although I began my journey of weight loss last year-losing 50 pounds- I feel the challenge will provide me the motivation and dedication to continue. I have a long journey ahead, but I am willing to go the distance!

Within the last year, I took a stressful new job and turned the big 40. I have always been a fluctuating size 6 to 8. I am 5'9 and as of date 179 pounds. I have gained 31 pounds in almost one year. Most recently, my 14 year old daughter told me that I looked disgusting and basically she was embarrased by my weight gain. She told me that she really didnt want me to attend her 8th grade graduation because I looked so sloppy to her. I heard of the Beyonce fast/diet, which to me is a starvation mechanism; and I dont want to do anything more to damage my health. I have always heard of people teasing and making fat jokes, but they never applied. Now the jokes apply and I never imagined how much it hurts and scars. I need a support system and partner as dieting and excercising have never been as necessary as they are now.
Looking forward to the loss,,,,

I am a 50 year old woman who has always been small my whole life & never had to worry about weight my entire life even after three kids. Three years ago I had to have a major operation & afterwards I gained about thirty-five pounds. I tried every diet I heard about & to no avail the weight would not come off. I walked constantly & I still could not lose any weight. I tried changing my eating habits, but it never lasted long because I could not give up the sweets. I heard about the 50 million pound challenge from one of my co-workers so I decided to give it a try. I went to State Farm & picked up a pedometer & I started the program the next wek setting my goal weight to 110 pounds. I started out with a weight of 140 pounds. I new it was going to be a challenge because I had a weakness for sweets & meat. I started losing a few pounds slowly & some weeks I did not lose anything. I walked daily & I bought myself an Abs Lounge & I started doing crunches on my Abs Lounge. I made sure I had enough water every day & I still was not progressing like I felt I should. I was getting a little disappointed. We started a fast at my Church where you were supposed to give up two things for thirty days that you felt you could not do without. It could be a person, shopping, television, gossiping, murmuring or complaining, food or whatever two things you felt that you just could not do without. I prayed to God and asked him what it was that he required of me during this fast. If you really know the Lord you know when you are hearing from him. My answer was immediately given to me. It was to give up sweets & meats for thirty days. It was really hard the first two weks & I constantly prayed & stayed in the word. I started losing the weight & after about three weeks people started to notice the weight loss. My co-workers gave me compliments & my family started noticing & giving me compliments. It really made me feel good about myself beacuse in getting control of my life I reached my ideal weight goal of 110 pounds & I am so very blessed & grateful to God, the 50 milion pound challenge & Dr. Ian for this program. Thank you all for your support & May God bless everyone that is connected to this program.

Behavior modification really works. I am a 44-year old African-American woman who used to look at food as "comfort" and end up gaining thirty-five pounds. I am single and don't have any children, so I was really living the life in Detroit, MI weighing 135 lbs. I used to model in hair and fashion shows, I was even in a pagent once looking and feeling good. On August 6, 2003 I was found out that I had high-blood pressure, one of the worst days of my life. I was overweight and my blood pressure was extremely high, I was threatening a stroke and diabetes was next according to my doctors. It was time to make a decision. I begin to change my eating habits but there was no exercise, so I only got little results. My blood pressure has been under control for four years and my weight has dropped also, from 180 lbs to 166 lbs. For me the 50 million pound challenge is an excellent motivator because you can record your progress and the goals and expectations are realistic. I joined the challenge in March of 2008 at 168 lbs, my goals are; to become and stay healthy, reach my ideal weight which is 145 lbs and wear a swimsuit to the beach this summer. Thank you Dr. Ian for your vision for 2008 to get and stay in shape.

This is a wonderful motivator for me and I am so happy that you are supporting us in this way. My eyesight has improved as well as the constant heartburn that I had. Just losing a few pounds has made such a difference in my life and the way that I see myself. The curse of diabetes is about to be written out of my medical records. Now my baby sister has begun to follow my example and she has lost 23 pounds!
Blessings!

I am a 56 year old African-American female who first had congestive heart failure after delivering my daughter at age 32. Since that time it has occurred 3 times. This last time the reality and seriousness hit me and made me pay attention. Years ago I quit smoking and I eat healthy. I do not have high blood pressure, but I do have thyroid problems, seizure disorder, inherited high Cholestoral, and arthritis. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. I have a scooter that I try to us minimally. I have a nutritionist along with participating in a hospital cardiac rehab exercise program. I have lost to date 30 pounds. I am only 5 feet. At one point I could barely walk through my house. Now I push myself a little further each day and I am working towards not getting a pace maker. Besides, I have to get well, lose this weight and be ready to walk to down the carpet for my daughter's first movie that premiers in August. "The American Mall." Then I have to remain fabulous for that Emmy and all of the other awards. I go to this space to get encouragement. I love the idea that it does not push but it supports and encourages. I truly appreciate the community.
