Lawana Williams is a Featured Challenger!

Dr. Ian Smith, Challenge Members, this is truly a blessing, given the opportunity to share our Challenges, accomplishments and goals with our brothers and sisters.

When I received a card in the mail from Dr. Ian informing the city of Detroit about The 50 Million Pound Challenge, & how we could become involved, I knew at that moment that this was something special.

When I got to work I shared the information with my co-workers and friends, I was so excited and looked forward to attending the rally in Hart Plaza. The day of the rally, I wasn't able to attend and was very disappointed, but I did not let that stop me. When I logged on to the web site and learned about The Challenge I knew that this was something that I wanted to be apart of.

I signed up and started a team Sisters Inspiring Sisters. I am proud to say that we are 129 members strong and growing. Every time I log on and find that we have a new member, I get even more excited and determined to reach my goal. Our Featured Challenger -- Lawana Williams!

As team leader I knew that I had to lead by example. I would send e-mails out every week to all team members encouraging them with a word,  thought for the day, or just sending them love.

Dr. Ian this Challenge has helped me to stay focused and determined to lose weight and be a healthier and happier person.

I work as a receptionist and most of the day I am sitting, so I made up in my mind that no matter what, I was going to walk on my lunch break for 30 minutes and eat a healthy lunch the other 30 minutes.  This has helped me tremendously, I have lost a total of 23 pounds (praise God). I have not been on any diet plan even though I plan to start your extreme fat smasher diet soon.

I feel great. I am 41 years young and I feel better than I have in a long time. Thank you Dr. Ian for being obedient and helping the world become healthier and more knowledgeable about our bodies and what it takes to live longer healthier and happier lives.

Congrats to you! I am so touch by your story, I am starting a healthy lifestyle for myself tommorrow. I will be joining a group of women in the morning with a 2 mile nature walk and eating more fruits and vegetable and cutting down on the fried food. I have made up my mind and I am not a quitter. Thanks for your story and keep a moving.

I am a diabetic and I've been trying to drop the pounds since my 20 year old was born. My sugar drops below 70 on a regular basis. My doctor tells me that it is my diet that needs correcting, but I can't get in nutrietional help with it. I'm considering purchasing one of your books, will it also help diabetics? I must admit I lost 27lbs since April 08, but it took me walking 6 miles 5 days a week. I've gained back 15 of the lbs I lost, I truly need help.

I have been a diabetic now for 15 years now and I still find it had to manage. Here lately I have been trying very hard with walking every day and trying to eat the right food, but it is hard. Last year around this time I manage to lose 20lbs, I started a new job and I gained it all back including some and it seems to be harder to take it off again. Today in the mail I received a jet magazine with Patti LaBelle on the cover and that jared my memory about the 50 million pound challenge I decided that I will try it for a couple of weeks. I hope that I will do well with it. I am learning to drink more water because it good for the body and exercising as well are key factors also in managing diabetes.

This is a very inspirational story. I made the decision for myself and my friends to start the Sista Friends Fit Club. All of us have talked and talked and talked but haven't done as much as we can to truly begin a healthier way of life. My hope is that with each of us supporting one another and with success stories like yours, we will all get stronger in our quest to not just lose weight but live healthier lives.

I just joined the Sisters Inspiring Sisters, I am 38 and had a lap-band.Slowly the weight is coming back on, I just started working out 3 days in the morning. I need a jumpstart on a healthly meal plan. I look forward to sharing my story, giving and receiving words of encouragement with others sisters. It is a struggle to me, I am a small business owner and sometimes pull at least 60 hrs per week. I have to make time for myself.

Hi All,
I have had a weight problem on and off all my life. I have spent thousands on diets. I was in the Military 20 years. I have had to fight all the way. I retired in 2002. I have not exercised besides a little walking. The residuals of exercise all those years has now worn off and I am 200 pounds! When I was 150 lbs, I cried myself to sleep....now, I want to slit my wrist!! (Joking). I so depressed about this. I have very little desire to exercise anymore. I always hated it but I had to. I need motivation. I had a hip replacement a few years ago and I was using the excuse I didn't want to hurt my hip. That's not a "real" excuse. This is my concerted effort to try again.

I did start a team named Women in the Mirror! I would love for you to be a member as I will be a member of yours as well. It has been a very humbling experience to know that I, the person who always felt that I couldn't change or inspire someone else to change, has actually done both! God is truly amazing in the help that he provides to us. I'm thankful for the opportunity to be able to share with others.

Hi Lawana, so very proud of you. I'm just getting started on the challenge, my first day is today,I think I'd better change that, my first day will be tomorrow, but I'm not sure how to go about starting my eating plan. Do you have any suggestions for a daily food menu? If so please share it with me. I've tried every diet there is, but with a back injury and plantar fasciitis in my feet, it's hard to exercise for 30 minutes straight, but hopefully I can build up to it.
