On Friday, October 10, 2008 State Farm promoted the 50 Million Pound Challenge during an event at Spelman College. The event targeted college students and faculty to help them understand different ways of handling stress. Spelman College contacted State Farm to participate because of the successful impact the 50 Million Pound Challenge had during the New Student Orientation held at the end of August.
Eddie Southard, the lead contact for the event, enlisted members of the Auto Growth Initiative Historically Black College Stream to coordinate State Farm’s participation in the event. The volunteers included Marketing Analyst Ashley Deadwyler-Jones, Claim Reps Cynthia Haynes and Brandon Banks and State Farm Agent Jeff Glover. The attendees enjoyed the festivities as a whole but were excited to learn more about the Challenge and how its design will help them achieve their goals. “It’s always a joy to work an event and interact with current and potential policyholders,” said Cynthia.
More than 30 people signed up to participate in the challenge. Attendees also received back packs, water bottles, and helpful tips on living a healthier lifestyle.
